L4D server

The post:
We have one L4D dedicated server running. It switches between coop and versus mode but mostly it is coop. Before you connect, remember to follow our rules.

If you want to directly connect to our server or to host a lobby there, you can set this to the game lauch properties: +sv_search_key "DWMH"

The sv_search key is disabled for most times since it disables the lobby creation for random players. But if you wish to join our steamgroup, the server will appear on your L4D start screen :) This enables you to join our server also when it is steamagroup exlusive. There are updates coming to steam cloud+matchmaking system. This probably indicates a new update for L4D. The currrent work means all servers have problemss with joining a server or hosting a lobby. So if you have problems meking a lobby to our server or joining it, it is not our server's fault :)

I have also disabled the sv_search_key cvar to test would the lobby system work better without it.

After I disabled of sv_search_key, all people are able to create a lobby to the server. IMO the search key should not work like the sv_pasword cvar, but it seems like it does. If you don't know the key, you cannot directly host a lobby there. Ping issues

Our server is running behind a full rate 3/3Mb ADSL2+ connection. This explains the 50-150 ping for European players.

When map is loaded the ping is very high for a moment. This is normal for L4D server which seemed to start to appear after the first server update.

Server rank

Cool. We got under 200 in game tracker rank and we have served over 4500 players. In my opinion pretty good for a server hosted at home. Valve rank is about 3500 and game-monitor rank is below 900. Thanks for all for playing with us! 		Posted by IHQ-Reima [DWMH] at 01/04/09 17:06:58

Since the last update the server has freeze -crashed sometimes. I have not been able to find the reason. So if it is offline, it most probably has freezed. Posted by IHQ-Reima [DWMH] at 06/04/09 17:11:10
